How was your 1st time?
Hello sunshine ☀️
How are you?
Question: Do you remember your first time?
The 1st (weird) name you thought you’d give to your startup?
The 1st (crazy) customer who paid for your product?
The 1st (courageous) employee you hired?
The 1st (painful) attempt to convince an investor?
🔥 Our job at The Family is to support 1st-timers.
You can imagine how exciting it is: their enthusiasm is contagious, their learnings are tremendous, their doubts are wiped away by their discoveries, their dreams are bright. It feels like being Alice in Wonderland ;)
I love going through the “1st pitch decks” of some actual unicorns, the 1st websites of amazing services, their 1st marketing emails... I find it inspiring and insightful. And it reminds us that all of today’s great founders have also been clumsy 1st-timers.
❤️ That’s why you’re invited to join “First Time Founder”
It’s an online Summit, happening on May 18, organized by The Family in partnership with AWS. We’ll go back to the 1st achievements, learnings, failures, methods of great founders looking back at turning points for their startups.
You’ll hear these stories directly from a selection of great founders, from The Family or not ;)
🥁 And just to give you a hint:
The 1st time Florian, the cofounder of Dataïku, managed to convince a corporate client, he was leveraging his previous network (from Exalead). It seemed kind of easy. Then he realized that after going through the 5 friends he had in the industry, he needed to jump into bigger circles, with a more structured marketing approach. How? You’ll see ;)
The 1st time Cannelle, the cofounder of Vybe, presented her banking solution to young people, she felt on point: hundreds of thousands of sign-ups. Everything seemed to be going great until Covid hit: their suppliers were no longer delivering cards. She managed to turn that frustration into an opportunity to get her community involved. How? You’ll see ;)
The 1st time Maxime, the founder of SpaceFill, wondered how to find the right pricing for his service, he started out by copying the pricing of the traditional competitors of his market. It served him alright, until the moment he discovered that his clients were ready to pay (much) more for the quality of his service! How? You’ll see ;)
The 1st time Max from Unai was building his own VR headset, he was 15 years old. He gathered the best minds who could really shift the world of VR. Together they realized that the existing operating systems wouldn’t work for creating a perfect immersive experience. They dared to create their own operating system. How? You’ll see ;)
To me, the hardest challenge in the entrepreneurial path is to be continuous 1st-timers, all along the way. But we can all train our inner learners…How? You’ll see by joining us!
